HDK-9 Patrol & Detection Academy
Our HDK9 K-9 Patrol Academy is designed to provide a new Handler and Patrol Dog with the necessary practical skills and knowledge to work as a professional and cohesive dog team. Our K9 Academies are strategically designed to be smaller in class size so that each team can receive proper and thorough training. This course is approved by
High Drive K-9 ® and meets all the important standards and certifications set by the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy (SCCJA). Each K-9 team will learn proper handling skills ensuring that they are prepared to deploy as a K-9 team across the country. The K-9 team will be provided with the following necessary skills: ability to control their dog, ability to locate, alert, and apprehend a suspect, ability to demonstrate proper search and deployment tactics, and the ability to overcome obstacles.
At the conclusion of this course, each team will be evaluated and certified by two High Drive K-9 Evaluators.
Additional certifications can be conducted per the student's request. (NAPWDA, etc.)
HDK9 Academy Topics include: Evolution of Canine, Language, Theories of Learning, Applied Dog Behavior, Practical Socialization, How Dogs Learn, Canine Drive Development, Police K9 Training Equipment Application, Narcotics or Explosives Detection Disciplines, Behavioral Problems, Obedience, Decoy Development, Aggression Control, Criminal Apprehension and Bite work, K9 Police Tactics, Muzzle Implementation, Tracking, Trailing, Building Search, Area Search, Article Search, Agility, Scenario Training, Certifications, Animal First Aid and CPR, Case Law, Report Writing, Records Keeping and much more. This course also provides an in depth instruction of all the course materials, lectures, discussions and hands on training that will be covered during this course.
