Our HDK9 K9 Patrol Academy is designed to provide the new Handler and Patrol Dog with the necessary practical skills and knowledge to work as a professional and cohesive dog team. Our K9 Academies are strategically designed to be smaller in class size so that each team can receive proper and thorough training. This course is approved by High Drive K-9 ® and meets all the important standards and certifications set by the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy (SCCJA). Each K-9 team will learn proper handling skills ensuring that they are prepared to deploy as a K-9 team across the country. The K-9 team will be provided with the following necessary skills: ability to control their dog, ability to locate, alert, and apprehend a suspect, ability to demonstrate proper search and deployment tactics, and the ability to overcome obstacles. At the conclusion of this course, each team will be evaluated and certified by two High Drive K-9 Evaluators.

Train the Trainer Course! This K9 Instructor course is designed to prepare a K-9 Handler and/or K-9 Trainer to become more advanced, educated and exposed to the vast aspects of K-9 and to enhance the ability to instruct a K-9 academy course curriculum. Officers attending will focus on the role of the canine team instructor and the liability of K-9 Training involved. The course will cover all academics portions associated with K-9, as well as conduct hands on practical instruction, lectures and canine demonstrations. All students must pass a written exam with a minimum of 85% and demonstrate 100% knowledge of practical proficiency. Those who attend should be prepared to participate in physical activity and demonstrate proper instruction of a canine topic. Topics include: Obedience, Aggression, Apprehension, Building Search, Area Search, Report Writing, Records Keeping and K-9 Course Development. Handlers should attend with their canines. This course is approved by High Drive K-9 ® and meets all the important standards and certifications set by the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy (SCCJA).

DECOY DEVELOPMENT

High Drive K-9 has created a current, unique, and bold decoy course that will expose you to a whole new look at decoying. Handlers know how important a decoy is to a dogs growth and development, but at High Drive K-9 we will take that to a whole new level. From an experienced decoy, an active handler, or a new officer looking to begin their focus on becoming a handler, this course offers benefits to all.
During this course, you will be provided with a real life training approach, guiding you to a clear understanding of a working dogs psychological behaviors and mannerisms when dealing with police work. In addition, you will be exposed and involved in numerous disciplines and exercises that will build and strengthen you as a decoy. Our Instructors will work side by side with you, stressing the importance of correct positioning, delivery, and psychological effects that occur when decoying for the dog. Also, this course provides a great platform for working current issues or concerns with your canine partner at the same time.
We strongly recommend that you attend this course, the benefits of a having a good decoy is essential for all K-9 units. The following topics will be covered extensively: equipment, Safety Issues, Bite. High Drive K-9 has created this course to immediately prepare your K-9 Team for the true challenges handlers will be faced with on the streets. Throughout this course, we will develop and strengthen both canine and handler skills to a whole new level. Picking up where our Decoy Development course finishes, this high energy course will properly prepare your dog for the stresses he will face on the streets. The benefits of this course will be evident after the first day of training. In addition, this course offers an explosive, disciplined training approach dealing solely with K-9 Bite Building and Problem Solving strategies as it applies to Canine Aggression, Hidden Sleeves, Muzzles, Passive suspects, weapon interaction, suspect contact, K-9 ground fighting, environmental engagements and much more. These strategies will be covered in full and integrated with the following disciplines: Bite Field Work, Vehicle exposures, Building Searches, Search Work all with Scenario Engagement implementation. The results of our course will directly build, strengthen, and prepare K-9 Teams for Real Life Deployments; providing them with advanced techniques to succeed under extreme stress and chaotic events they may experience.

"Special Tactical Response Involving K-9 Execution"
This cutting edge course is designed to educate and integrate K-9 Teams with SWAT and/or Tactical Teams. The strategic and tactical skills you will receive from this course will immediately build and strengthen your teams' growth. This 4 day (40 Hour) or 8-day (80 Hour) course will provide K-9 Teams with an advanced foundation of the necessary tactics needed to become cohesive with SWAT and/or Tactical Teams. Likewise, SWAT and Tactical Teams will gain knowledge and a clear understanding of the K-9 teams' needs during an operation. This S.T.R.I.K.E. course will cover K-9/SWAT tactical issues such as tracking, area searches, building searches, vehicle assaults, suspect contact, arrest techniques, suicidal suspects, barricaded suspects, and tactical movement with gun fire. The ultimate goal is to demonstrate how successful K-9 and SWAT can be, when they deploy as a Team.
S.T.R.I.K.E. course is designed for each agency to attend with their respective K-9 Team along with SWAT operators or Tactical Officers from the same agency. During this course, each K-9 Team will be properly educated, introduced, exposed and given a hands on approach to the E-Collar system. Understanding the proper mechanics and function of the E-Collar system is crucial. The myths must be broken and true education of the E-Collar revealed. Proper training of every piece of equipment is a must in the K-9 world, and this includes the E-Collar itself. The K-9 Teams will be thoroughly instructed and guided on the utilization of the E-Collar during both training and real life deployments. Proper use of the E-Collar as a behavior shaping device, a communication tool, and as a corrective measure will be vastly covered.
